About the Event

Green BIC Brunch Session: Green Book Supply Chain 101

Kindly Sponsored by Publishing Scotland

Introduction

Increasingly, global book industry standards – such as ONIX and Thema – are being adopted worldwide with a view to bettering international communications, discoverability, and increasing sales. But what does this all mean for the book industry’s supply chain? What is the scale of our industry’s carbon footprint and its consumption of plastic? How can your organisation increase its sustainability whilst reducing its overall environmental impact? And what does the future hold? This online Green BIC Brunch will explore these questions, and will explore a number of key concerns highlighted in the results of a recent Publishing Scotland survey as follows: - Shipping and distribution - Waste and packaging (including plastics) - Production – printing, inks, materials.

Who should attend?

This Green BIC Brunch will be of interest to all publishers, booksellers, distributors, freight forwarders, production teams, data aggregators, systems vendors: anyone interested in improving the environment by making their supply chains greener.

About the Green BIC Brunch Series

BIC is the dedicated book industry supply chain organisation in the UK and as you would expect, the environment is naturally high on our priorities. In June 2020, to uphold the BIC Green Promise, we launched our Green BIC Brunch series that aims specifically to explore key areas of the book supply chain that can and do impact on our planet’s environmental health. Each Green BIC Brunch is dedicated to one key area while the series as a whole is intended to join the book industry supply chain together in one place – exploring and inspiring change in response to environmental challenges.

Our past Green BIC Brunch sessions can be watched online via the BIC YouTube channel, here.

Information about all of our scheduled forthcoming sessions can be found, here.
